The Sensational Joint Chiefs return for another rare public performance at The TURF CLUB on Sat June 27 with very special guests BIG TROUBLE (members of Heiruspecs) and other special guests. This will likely be the only public show in 2009.

I'm currently collaborating with composer/pedal steel maniac Joel Pickard on an original score for a new dance work by choreographer Emily Johnson entitled The Thank-you Bar. It will premiere in October 2009 at OutNorth Alaska, in Anchorage. Joel and I will be touring with the piece and performing our score live. We'll also be performing another of our BLACKFISH duets at the iQuit music series on Thur July 16 at the Rogue Buddha Gallery in Northeast Mpls.

Roma Di Luna is working on new songs for our next record, and looking forward to a series of outdoor summer performances, including the Walker Art Center's MUSIC & MOVIES in the PARK series on Monday July 27 in Loring Park, downtown Minneapolis. Our latest CD, "CASTING THE BONES" is already in it's second pressing. It was recorded at Crazy Beast Studio (Andrew Bird, Dosh, etc) and features the full 7-piece band lineup. To order online or download, go to romadiluna.com.

Vicious Vicious

Norway Twin, a new project with Ryan and Jessie from the Roma Di Luna band, is working on some recordings, planning on some more shows in the coming year. We'll have them posted to our myspace site soon.

Thanks to everyone who continues to support the series. Video & Audio Highlights from past shows are available on the Whole's website. Making Music shows are FREE and open to all ages, but due to limited capacity, free advance tickets are highlly recomended and available thorugh The WMC's website. Previous guests include Dave King (The Bad Plus, Happy Apple), Wendy Lewis (Redstart), Martin Dosh, Robert Skoro, Sean Daley aka Slug, Haley Bonar, James Diers, Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner, Andrew Broder, Stef Alexander aka POS, Sean McPhereson, Spaghetti Western String Co., Darren Jackson aka Kid Dakota, Andrew Bird, Anthony Davis aka ANT (Atmosphere), Dessa Darling, Josh Grier (Tapes N Tapes), Ryan Olcott (Mystery Palace), Morton Subotnick, and Lori Barbero (Babes In Toyland). The Capture! dance film series continues with another CAPTURE!RAMA dance film mashup scheduled for Spring 2009 at the Bryant Lake Bowl Theatre. I co-host and co-curate Capture! with choreographer Emily Johnson from Catalyst dance. "CAPTURE!RAMA" is a new live performance/film hybrid format that we debuted in May 2007 to rave reviews. Five groups perform and shoot five short dance films on and around the BLBT stage, using one camera, one tape, and only in-camera edits. after all five films have been shot, we rewind the tape and view them all on the big screen, followed by panel discussion and Q & A. It is a good time. Interested participants can contact us through this site. All-Ages. 7:30pm doors 8pm show. $6/5 students.

My latest solo album, entitled PARADE, is available through the Firetrunk Records website or local independent record stores (Electric Fetus (easy online ordering), Cheapo, Know Name). Soon it will be available through most download sites. My sister Mary's debut album, Little Things, was released simultaneously, and is also available through Firetrunk. Both records were recorded with Ben Durrant at Crazy Beast Studio in Minneapolis, and feature a bunch of friends and current and former bandmates - Martin Dosh (Lateduster), James Diers & Dave King (Halloween, Alaska) Channy Moon Casselle (Roma Di Luna) Adrian Suarez (Vicious Vicious), Damon Ewing & Nathan Pederson (Sensational Joint Chiefs), Ryan Lovan (Roma Di Luna), & Jess Hayssen (Mandrew), Elizabeth Bonacci, Adam Linz, Randy Kramer, and Bethany Lacktorin. You can sample some of the new tracks in the mp3 column to the left. CITY PAGES A-LIST

Also, Mary & I performed live in the studio at The Current 89.3 FM on The Local Show with Chris Roberts on Sunday, June 24 to promote our dual CD release show. We chatted about the new CDs and performed three new songs live. You can listen online by clicking the link above.
